Advanced Schema Design Patterns
MongoDB experts collected and analyzed database schemas from a cross-section of industry. They came up with the most frequently-used schema design patterns and categorized them for easy use. These patterns make development easier, more efficient, and significantly more performant. Those attending will learn these patterns, hear about common use cases, and see examples of advanced application. Beginners, practiced data developers and data modelers will benefit from this talk. The presentation will examine common and less common patterns, identify them in practice, and provide tips for choosing the right pattern for data modeling.
Migrating to MongoDB Atlas: The What and How
Migrating on-premises or self-hosted MongoDB clusters to Atlas is becoming increasingly common. The popularity and benefits of Atlas makes migrating now more attractive than ever. However, many organizations are overwhelmed by the "what" and "how" of getting started. Anyone planning a migration soon, or even toying with the idea of moving to the cloud can learn from what others have done before. This talk covers the entire migration process including: how to execute a proof-of-concept (POC), picking the right Atlas cluster size, and making the migration happen. We'll discuss real-life migration experiences, common gotchas, and most importantly, how to successfully migrate a production cluster into Atlas.
Security and Compliance Roadmap for MongoDB
In this session I will walk you through our security and governance, risk and compliance high level objectives for 2020 and beyond. At the end of the talk you should have a clear idea of where MongoDB security and compliance is headed, and how we complement the myriad groups within and external to MongoDB. This session is designed for anyone who wishes to learn more about the security and compliance programs at MongoDB.
New Product Announcement: Schema Advisor!
Schema Advisor is a new tool we will be announcing in MongoDB Live. It helps solve the problem users have with knowing what the right data model should be for their application. We are happy to introduce “Schema Advisor” in MongoDB Atlas! The Schema Advisor automatically recommends you how to improve your schema to run MongoDB more performantly. A large segment of our users do not design their data models carefully when building apps on top of MongoDB. These data models don't have an immediate effect on performance but over time as the application scales, can become the bottleneck for customers running MongoDB efficiently and cost-effectively. We will talk about how Schema Advisor works and how to use it as you build your application and maintain it at scale.
Discovering Customer Signals in Online Retail
Come to this talk to learn how AO.com—one of the UK’s largest online electrical retailers—are building real-time, event-driven applications to improve customer experience. Our usage ofMongoDB and MongoDB Atlasbegan by liberating data from our heritage order management applications supporting our Single Customer View initiatives.MongoDBnowhelps us to tracksignals across the customer journey including on-site click-stream data. We use these signals to build more personalized experiences such as onsite interventions with unique promo codes or customized delivery propositions. We’ll be looking at the challenges we faced when adoptingMongoDB. We’ll also dive into our adoption ofMongoDB Atlasand the benefits this has given us. Finally, we’ll take stock of where we’re at now andwhat the future ofMongoDBlooks like within the organization.
Advanced MongoDB Atlas Search Queries
MongoDB Atlas Search provides a rich set of analysis options and query operators to MongoDB. In this session, we will incrementally refine $search queries, demonstrating how to use powerful options to express a variety of constraints. Learn how to leverage $search to craft queries that capture more relevant search results in your application.
Deep Encryption to Protect Health Care Data
Field Level Encryption has enabled Apervita to exceed industry standards for storage and managing Healthcare Protected Healthcare Information (PHI), providing one of the most secure Healthcare platforms by encrypting each patient's PHI with a unique key. Each unique key is protected by a Master Key provided by the customer themself. The customer now has both control of their data and peace of mind that their data is secure, while still seamlessly enabling critical business use cases.
Run it in Kubernetes! Community and Enterprise MongoDB in Containers
Do you want to learn how to fully setup a MongoDB deployment from scratch with a single command? In this talk, we will show how to leverage a kubernetes cluster to easily setup a secure sharded cluster or replica set including monitoring, backup, automation tools and OpsManager. We will discuss the internal design of the MongoDB kubernetes operator and also demonstrate a single click installation. This talk will also show how you can benefit from setting up a completely free MongoDB instance inside kubernetes with our newly released Apache-licenced MongoDB community operator: if you want to use our free community DB in a modern kubernetes environment, look no further!
Bechdel.io: How We Used MongoDB To Help Make Film More Inclusive
What do The Social Network, Harry Potter, The Original Star Wars Trilogy and Toy Story all have in common? None of these great films pass the Bechdel Test. The Bechdel Test asks whether a film meets all of the following criteria: It includes at least two women, who have at least one conversation, about something other than a man or men. In this talk, we will discuss how a brother and sister team created, bechdel.io, a film script parsing tool that automatically tests film scripts to determine whether or not they pass the Bechdel Test in a fraction of a second. We discuss the technical details of how we created the tools, including how we used MongoDB to help us scale and create new insights and discoveries. We will also cover highlights from our academic research that has emerged as a result of this software.
